The BBC said yesterday that its website had inaccurately reported that a documentary to be screened by it at the weekend would show that farmed salmon contained up to 10 times the amount of dioxins normally found in wild salmon.

The documentary will instead claim that oily fish - farmed and wild - contain up to 10 times more dioxins than other foods, a spokeswoman said. High levels of dioxins can cause cancer.
