The death has occurred of the Mayor of Kilkenny, Cllr Tommy Delaney. He attended a concert in St Canice's Cathedral in Kilkenny on Friday night and became ill shortly afterwards. He died early on Saturday morning in hospital. He was a Fianna Fail member of Kilkenny Corporation for more than 35 years and was due to retire in June. Mr Delaney's wife, Maureen, died two years ago.
He will be buried in St Kieran's Cemetery following Requiem Mass at noon today.
