The Parades Commission has ordered two loyalist marches due to take place next Saturday to stay out of sensitive parts of Belfast and Lurgan, Co Armagh, writes Andrea Clements in Belfast. An Orange Order march in south Belfast this weekend has been prohibited from proceeding along the nationalist lower Ormeau Road.
The Whitewell Defenders Flute Band parade in north Belfast next weekend faced objections from some residents, Sinn Fein and the SDLP.
The commission ordered the parade to stop a short distance from its assembly point in the White City, to reassemble at Gray's Lane and proceed to the Shore Road. In Lurgan, bands were ordered to stay out of William Street, which leads into a Catholic part of the town, and to disperse by 10.30 p.m.
