Bonn - The German parliament, the Bundestag, voted unanimously yesterday for a moratorium on debt owed by Central American countries devastated by Hurricane Mitch.
Honduras and Nicaragua will be the main beneficiaries. Nicaragua owes Germany $496 million (£332 million) and Honduras owes $125 million.
