Europe's largest airline British Airways is set to cut a further 5,000 office jobs to cut costs, The Timesand The Telegraphsaid this morning.
The Times, citing a report from a committee of the firm's senior management, said the job cuts are in addition to the number already announced as part of BA's Future Size and Shape restructuring programme.
BA said no decision had been made.
"Any reports of job loses at BA are pure speculation," said a British Airways spokesman, adding: "Our staff have been told work has started on a business plan for 2004 and (Chief Executive Rod Eddington) has said he is not going to rule
anything in or anything out."
The company said in November it was on track to cut 13,000 jobs to cope with the industry downturn.
