Armed members of the Garda regional response unit were called to assist local gardaí in Tralee last night after a sudden escalation in violence related to a feud between Traveller families.
In the early afternoon houses and vehicles were damaged in the Mitchel’s area of the town and there were a number of other incidents throughout the day.
Local gardaí arrived and a number of people were taken into custody.
This is the second time this year armed members of the unit from Cork and Limerick have been called in as a result of the feud. A special sitting of the District Court is expected today.
