Eight people were killed and 20 injured on Wednesday when a bus carrying Canadian, Italian, Russian and Ukrainian tourists overturned and caught fire in Egypt's Sinai peninsula on Thursday, police sources said.

The bus was traveling from the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh to the capital Cairo and overturned on a sharp bend in the road near Ras Sidr, about 50km south of the city of Suez, they said.

The bodies of the dead were badly burned and no one has yet been able to identify them, they added. The injured are in three hospitals on the west coast of the peninsula and three of them are in serious condition.
