Diyarbakir - Turkish troops are reported to have killed 21 Kurdish rebels loyal to Abdullah Ocalan and to have lost four of their own men in fighting in the south-east of the country. The trial of Ocalan, leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), is due to resume next week.

A statement by the emergency rule governor's office in the regional capital Diyarbakir said operations against the PKK were continuing "without pause". In Agri, security forces killed two guerrillas after overnight rebel rocket attacks on police and municipal buildings,
