The Plastic Industries Association has warned the construction industry that independent tests have shown that some DPM products sold on the Irish market will not provide an effective long-term moisture barrier. DPM is installed at the foundation stage and any subsequent remedial work can lead to substantial expense and considerable inconvenience. The association says it is concerned that the practice of supplying inferior grade material is undermining the reputation of the industry generally. The issue is to be referred to the Director of Consumer Affairs.
