Churchill Terrace is a distinctive row of Tudor-style houses in a cul-de-sac facing the DART line in Sandymount, where residents enjoy the use of a private tennis court and communal garden. The terrace of 10 houses was built at the turn-of-the-century and only rarely does one come up for sale. Number 2 is scheduled for auction through Lisney, which is quoting £350,000-plus for the four-bedroom house in advance of its May 28th auction.

Refurbished in recent years, the terraced house has two reception rooms, a long, well-cared for south-westerly rear garden and most of its period features intact. Granite steps lead to the front door and behind its coloured, leaded glass, there is an entrance hallway in muted orange with dado rail, original cornice work and centre rose. The two reception rooms, divided by double folding doors, are both high, bright, rooms with an old style, squared bay window in the front-facing sittingroom and French doors opening from the diningroom into the garden to the rear. The sittingroom has a wood surround fireplace with cast-iron inset and decorative tiling, an impressive centre rose and nice cornice work. A fireplace in the diningroom is similar, though less ornate.

The efficient, carefully modernised kitchen has a quarry tiled floor and a range of maple fitted units. By the sink, a window has been added to overlook the garden. A washing machine and dryer fit neatly into a small area just off the kitchen, an area which also has a door to the garden and a guest lavatory. The upstairs return has a bedroom and the bathroom. The bedroom has windows in two walls and a great deal of light. There is a built-in wardrobe. The bathroom has a bath with shower and toilet with original chain flush. A short flight of steps leads back to the front of the house and to the other three bedrooms, all with wash-hand basins and two of which are to the front of the house. The largest has a double window and built-in wardrobes. The second front bedroom has a polished wood floor. The third, and rear, bedroom has a double set of built-in wardrobes with a dressing space between. A large skylight over the landing ensures plenty of light on this floor and there is an attic with pull-down ladder.

The garden to the rear begins at a patio and extends to a raised lawn with a path to one side and rose and fruit trees, shrubs, plants and ivy-clad walls. There is a Barna shed and, at the very end and accessed via a rear laneway, a large double garage. The front garden is gravelled.
