Galway-based developers Bernard Duffy and Tom Broderick have paid over £7 million for a site of three-quarters of an acre opposite The Point Depot in the Dublin docklands. The riverside site on Thorncastle Street was sold by Hooke & MacDonald on behalf of the IAWS. The new owners are expected to seek planning permission for an apartment scheme, even though An Bord Pleanala recently refused its consent to Morrison Homes for 108 apartments in a 13-storey block. The refusal came as a surprise because Zoe Developments had already built a 16-storey apartment block a short distance away at Charlotte Quay.
