A house owned by two architects is bound to attract a good deal of interest, especially when it is located on one of Ranelagh's most popular roads.

Number 18 Moyne Road was in bedsits when its architect owners bought it two years ago. They turned it back into a family home with three bedrooms, a cleverly converted attic and a modern kitchen. Scheduled for auction through Billy O'Sullivan on October 24th, it carries a guide price of £450,000 (571,500).

The couple have continuously updated the terraced house. The most recent job was knocking through the two downstairs reception rooms so that they are now connected by folding doors. At the same time they replaced the pine floors in the rooms and the hall with oak. While the house was clearly in a very different condition 10 years ago, some of its original features, such as the Victorian fireplaces in the livingrooms, were still intact.

The kitchen is at the back of the house. It is a long, rectangular room fitted at the top end with beech topped units and an island. Although the kitchen was installed 10 years ago it is remarkably contemporary looking with its stainless steel details, open shelving and light green mosaic tiles. At the far end there is room for a table and along one wall, cupboard doors cleverly conceal the washing machine.

Upstairs, the room on the first-floor return which was once a bedroom is now a large family bathroom. It still has its original fireplace. Up another flight of stairs are three double bedrooms, two at the front of the house and the largest at the back.

The development of the attic meant the house now has a large home office. It is accessed via a very steep, ladder-style staircase. The room itself is attractive with the redbrick wall left exposed at one end, large Velux windows in the roof and a small bathroom at the other end of the room. This is a typical Ranelagh redbrick but the back garden at least is larger than many in the area. Directly outside the back door is a patio laid with limestone slabs, a garden with lawn and shrubs and a back entrance.
