The shutdown of Internet giant Yahoo's popular service for nearly three hours yesterday was the result of a "co-ordinated outside attack", the cyberspace giant said. The company's servers, located in California, were flooded with requests for information at a much higher rate than the computers could accommodate, bringing system to a standstill. The attack exposed the vulnerability of the World Wide Web to determined hackers.
