Seve sent home from hospital

GOLF: SEVE BALLESTEROS has been discharged from hospital, after undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumour.

GOLF:SEVE BALLESTEROS has been discharged from hospital, after undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumour.

The five-time major winner has been in La Paz hospital since collapsing in October and has undergone four operations, the last of which took place last week.

However, the hospital have confirmed Ballesteros has been allowed home.

"The patient Severiano Ballesteros has been discharged this morning by the department of neurosurgery and has already left the hospital," a statement ran.

The golfer is expected to undergo radiotherapy.

In a statement on his website, seveballesteros.com, the 51-year-old said: "Today, after a 66-day stay in Hospital La Paz in Madrid, finally doctors Heredero, Isal and Lopez Perez have allowed me some temporary holidays away from hospital.

"There is a long recovery time ahead and I shall keep on fighting with patience and determination."
