NEWS ROUND-UP:THE DONEGAL football panel have joined in the act of player power by criticising the county board's actions which led to manager Brian McIver stepping down last week, and demanding they have some representation on the selection committee appointed to find a successor.
"The Donegal senior football squad would like to express its dissatisfaction with the dismissal of Brian McIver as team manager last week," said a statement.
"We believe the county board's actions were unfair and the manner of his removal - through a vote of no confidence - left a lot to be desired. We would like to thank Brian sincerely for his efforts over the past three years - a period which was marked by the county's first ever NFL title.
"Following Brian's removal, it is the squad's intention now to seek representation in the selection process for any future managerial appointments."
