MICK KINANE, who begins a busy weekend at Epsom this afternoon, was on the mark at Tipperary last evening when landing the Ashtown House Stud EBF Maiden on the Dermot Weld-trained Obvious Appeal.

Odds-on chance, Marigot Bay, bidding to provide the powerful Ballydoyle team with their 11th two-year-old victory of the current campaign, broke smartly for Christy Roche and still held the call two furlongs from home when she suddenly veered slightly off the running rail, nearly forcing the veteran rider out of the plate.

The daughter of Fairy King lost her action briefly but the former champion soon got his mount back on an even keel, until Kinane produced his Danehill filly to sweep past the market leader close home to win going away.

Mark Weld, son of the Rosewell House handler said: "That's the first two-year-old winner for the Moyglare Stud Farm this season. Our horses are beginning to come right after a very slow start."
