Knockbeg College 0-12 Malahide CS 1-6:KNOCKBEG COLLEGE, Carlow, were not flattered by a three-point winning margin over Malahide Community School at Dr Cullen Park yesterday.

The north Dublin side started brightly and led twice early on playing into the strong wind with points from play by Fionn Cahill and Mark Hazeley.

Knockbeg’s midfield pair of Pauric McEvoy and Thomas Daly then gained control and the Carlow college rattled off eight unanswered points for the remainder of the half.

Malahide’s hopes were raised through a goal from Conor Mullarkey three minutes after the restart. But the Dublin side made no further inroads as the accuracy of Stephen Attride, Mark Lyons, Alan Norton and Eddie O’Dwyer saw Knockbeg deservedly through to the quarter-finals.
