Aidan O'Brien's Coliseum finished a well-beaten fourth to the impressive Way of Light in the Group One Grand Criterium mile at muddy Longchamp yesterday. The National Stakes second held a brief lead at the beginning of the straight, but faded under Michael Kinane to be beaten eight lengths.

El Gran Hombre, O'Brien's other runner, was tailed off under Gerald Mosse after cutting out the donkey work.

Way of Light made smooth progress from the rear under Cash Asmussen and comfortably disposed of Paul Cole's Red Sea by a length and a half on a holding track.

John Gosden's Glamis, ridden by Frankie Dettori, was a similar distance further away in third.
