Vartry Lakes will take a handsome lead into the second leg of the FBD-sponsored Barton Cup final, thanks to their performance in the first leg at Kilkenny last Saturday.
Vartry Lakes, who are just four years old, won this opening leg 4-1, with Kilkenny's only winners being Eddie Power and Maurice Ryan, who were 3 and 2 winners over Darren Murray and Dermot Browne.
Victorious for Vartry Lakes were Graham Smith and Alan Horan; Joseph McDonald and Gary Greene; Martin Smyth and David Briggs and the final pairing of Michael Devlin and Philip Dalton.
The second leg of the final takes place at Vartry Lakes in Roundwood, Co Wicklow on Saturday September 8th.
