MICHAEL KINANE'S application to ride in Hong Kong later this year has been deferred and it looks as he may have to appear before the licensing committee of the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club before a decision is reached.

The director of racing, Philip Johnston, was quoted in yesterday's Racing Post as saying. He (Kinane) will be advised as to the reasons why the committee want him to appear.

There was better news from Hong Kong for Kevin Darley, who received confirmation yesterday that his application to ride there from December to the end of February has been accepted.

. The Jockey Club are to take no further action against Willie Carson who was suspended for seven days by the Lingfield stewards on Saturday after the jockey threw away a race he should have won on Kamari.

John Maxe, the Jockey Club's press officer said. "One of the things to point out is the stewards decided he was guilty of a serious misjudgment. Had they considered the mistake to be deliberate then they would have reported the jockey to us and you can rest assured he would have been dealt with severely."
