Dublin colleges will play Good Counsel of New Ross in the Leinster final after they pulled off a major upset when they beat reigning champions St Kieran's in Saturday's semi-final at Parnell Park. The Dublin composite side pulled off their shock the hard way, coming from seven points down in the second half before taking the win with goals from Sean Quinn and David O'Callaghan in extra-time. The final score was 3-16 to 3-12.
Good Counsel beat Cistercian, Roscrea by 0-14 to 0-9 in Saturday's other semi-final at Nowlan Park. The Roscrea school were left regretting a series of missed opportunities during a dominant 20minute spell in the opening half. When they should have enjoyed a comfortable half-time lead, they in fact went in trailing by a single point, 0-5 to 0-6. In the second half, the New Ross school played with greater urgency, producing a storming finish resulting in points from Mark Phelan and Willie O'Dwyer to secure their final passage.
