Wexford 0-10 Clare 0-5 Both sides finished without their full complement, as Clare's Brian Considine and Mark O'Connell and Wexford's Paul Carley got marching orders in the second half. Carley and O'Connell were dismissed for two bookable offences. Considine got a straight red for striking an opponent.

Clare started well and led by two points to nil courtesy of Stephen Hickey and Odran O'Dwyer before Wexford scored, a Mattie Forde point in the 22nd minute. By half-time, the sides were on three points each, with only Donal O'Sullivan and Robert Hassey scoring from play.

Clare regained the leadwith a Hickey point, but three Forde frees in a five-minute period turned the tables, and once midfielder Considine saw red in the 49th minute Clare lost their shape, their final score coming from the boot of Alan Clohessy 17 minutes from time.

Wexford added points from defender David Murphy, Forde (two) and John Hegarty.
