American apprentice jockey Arnold Ruiz was killed and two other riders were injured in an accident at Beulah Park racecourse on Saturday.

Ruiz (33) of Arlington Heights, Illinois, died of massive head injuries following the incident. He was aboard three-year-old filly Winds of Sonora in a claiming race when she fell and two other horses behind also came down.

Chuck Costanzo, who was riding Kaicoltra, was thrown to the ground after his horse hit Ruiz's mount. A third jockey, Michael Heath, suffered minor cuts and bruises.
