Madam, - I note with interest the decision of the Bridgestone Guide once again to omit Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud from its list of recommendations.

This is in spite of the fact that the restaurant in question has an international reputation for excellence. It has been repeatedly awarded two stars in world's most prestigious dining guide, the Michelin.

The author of the Bridgestone guide, John McKenna, attempts to justify this bizarre decision by referring to "fine dining" as "petit-bourgeois snobbery" (The Irish Times, November 8th). This statement manages to insult both Mr Guilbaud and his many satisfied customers.

In my opinion RPG remains one of the finest restaurants on this island.
