Renua Ireland

Sir, – Last week we saw the launch of a new political party. This came after much speculation regarding Lucinda Creighton’s intentions over the last year and a bit. The Reform Alliance morphed into Reboot Ireland, which eventually became Renua Ireland. After all this time Renua Ireland eventually launched on Friday 13th. Lucinda said at the launch she wasn’t superstitious but as launches go it was pretty disastrous.

For people who have been working on this initiative for over a year, no one thought it was important to secure the Renua Ireland Facebook page. A parody Facebook page was set up by a quick-thinking individual; that page currently has over 10,000 “likes” while the official Renua Ireland Facebook page has less than 1,000 “likes”.

I admire Lucinda Creighton for what she has done. Trying to set up a new party is indeed a brave act. However she needs to get her act together or else get off the stage. All I have heard so far are platitudes with little substance. She is playing senior hurling now. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – I still reckon the “Lucindapendent Party” would have been a more apposite name for the fledgling organisation. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Platitudes, promises and contradictions, it all adds up to your bog standard Irish political party! – Yours, etc,

Sir, – I noticed that God was not mentioned at the launch of Renua Ireland. Have lessons been learned since the PDs were founded? – Yours, etc,
