Ansbacher Accounts

Sir, - Waiting for Luas the other day I happened upon L.M. Nolan's facetious disclaimer in your Letters page (October 2nd) about Cayman Islands accounts or involvement in other shady matters. After denying any vested interest in these things he ends his letter by saying: "But I wish I had."

Somehow, Mr Nolan, I think not. I doubt that you would be able to live with the knowledge that your dubious morality, fiscal impropriety or simple carelessness had helped delay so many essential public services. You would find it hard, I imagine, to bear the thought of those dying on hospital waiting-lists, of those with young families waiting for housing, or even commuters like myself waiting for Luas. One can only hope, with another nod to Becket, that this at last is "Endgame". - Yours, etc.,

Eamon Sweeney, South Hill, Dartry, Dublin 6.
