Sir, - Well, Holy God! I refer to a report by your property correspondent, Orna Mulcahy (Property, January 21st): "£450,000-plus for Dalkey villa". A principal selling point of this property seems to be that "immediately to the left is a clear view of Sorrento Terrace, where a house sold last year for £5.9 million."

Is this report seriously suggesting that potential purchasers can sit and contemplate Sorrento Terrace from a property "in need of complete renovation"?

In my view, this is the kind of hype that has added fuel to the inflationary property market in recent times. Or maybe it is merely that your journalist has become adversely affected by the computer-enhanced, cloudless, clear blue skies, which, of course, are de rigueur for all east coast/ Dublin property sales these days. - Yours, etc., Aidan Carroll,
