Sir, – When working, I travelled to Dublin from Clonmel frequently to shows, plays, concerts, art exhibitions, and so on.
Now that I am retired, all this has become impossible, with no direct train service from one of the biggest inland towns in Ireland.
A one-hour lunch-time concert requires over five hours of travelling by public transport. No overnight stay, either, as hotel prices are just crazy, which means no more evening performances for me.
The Dublin people are very lucky to have all the amenities on their doorstep. Why not send a few of these arts and cultural events down to us? – Yours, etc,
