A youth who returned to crime within a month of receiving a suspended prison sentence was sent to jail for 15 months yesterday.

Martin Cumberton (17), of Mountjoy Street, Dublin, received a suspended sentence of five months last January for taking a car. However, Dublin District Court heard he was caught with a stolen motorcycle on February 6th and was found with a pair of bolt cutters on February 3rd.

The defendant had also been caught in a stolen Fiesta in Phibsboro on December 7th. Judge Desmond Hogan imposed sentences totalling 15 months and a further sentence of six months suspended for two years on a charge of interfering with a vehicle's mechanism.
