A yachtsman was rescued today after getting into difficulties off the coast of Co Cork.
The Courtmacsherry RNLI lifeboat was called out at 3.45pm this afternoon to go to the aid of the 30ft boat which had developed steering problems off the Old Head of Kinsale, near Courtmacsherry Bay.
The lifeboat, under coxswain Sean O'Farrell and a crew of six, launched immediately and reached the stricken boat half-an-hour later.
The lifeboat towed the yacht to the pier in Courtmacsherry.
The single-sailor vessel had been travelling from Crosshaven to West Cork.
