The death of a 42-year-old woman near Naas, Co Kildare, is being treated as murder

The death of a 42-year-old woman near Naas, Co Kildare, is being treated as murder. The body of Ms Carmel Coyne, from Station Road, Allenwood, Co Kildare, was discovered in a caravan several miles north of the town. Gardaí responded after receiving a phone call shortly after 10 p.m. on Monday night .

A man in his early 40s was arrested at the scene and was being questioned last night by local gardaí.

Ms Coyne's body was removed to Naas General Hospital.

The State Pathologist, Dr John Harbison, conducted a post-mortem last night. Gardaí said "operational reasons" precluded them from making public the autopsy results. However, it is known that Ms Coyne sustained a number of blows to the head.
