A woman who got into difficulties while swimming off the Co Clare coast yesterday has died.
The alarm was raised last night after the woman failed to return from a swim at Lahinch beach.
A major air and sea search was conducted by the rescue services and the woman was taken from the water shortly before 11pm.
She was taken by helicopter to University Hospital Galway where she was pronounced dead in the early hours of this morning.
