The chief executive officer of Waterford Wedgwood, Peter Cameron, is to step down after 2½ years in the job in "order to pursue his own business interests" a company statement announced today.

Mr Cameron also steps down as director of the group.

David W Sculley (61), currently a director of Waterford Wedgwood plc and non-executive chairman of both Josiah Wedgwood & Sons Ltd and Royal Doulton Ltd, will serve as the interim chief executive officer until a permanent appointment has been named.
