United Nations - The United States and Libya held their first official talks in nearly 20 years here yesterday, on what the Libyan ambassador called a "special day [for] Libyan-American relations."

Tripoli's envoy, Mr Abuzed Omar Dorda, called the talks "useful" and said contacts between the two nations, which have not had diplomatic relations since 1981, would continue.
