A POLISH man has been found murdered in east Belfast and police are examining possible links between his death and that of another Polish national.
The body of the murder victim was found at an address on Ardenvohr Street in the Woodstock Road area on Friday afternoon but PSNI detectives did not disclose the details until Saturday.
The body of a second man was found at a multistorey construction site in the Custom House Square area near the city centre at the weekend.
The two dead men may have shared the same house and there is no suspicion of a crime involving the discovery of the second body.
Neither man has yet been publicly identified.
PSNI officers examined the house in east Belfast in search of clues as the murder investigation got under way.
Police asked the public to come forward with any information.
Details about the causes of death have not yet been released although it is understood a postmortem on the body of the murder victim has been carried out.
SDLP deputy leader Dr Alasdair McDonnell expressed shock at the man’s murder.
The South Belfast MP said he carried out cross-community work in the east Belfast area.
“I’m very saddened by this. Ardenvohr Street is very close to my constituency area and I know it very well,” he said.
“I very much regret that this man was murdered. The crime has been compounded by the fact that this man appears to have been a Polish man, far from home, from his family and friends.
“My thoughts, prayers and sympathies go out to the families of everybody involved.”
