Two men died in separate house fires in Dublin early on Saturday morning

Two men died in separate house fires in Dublin early on Saturday morning. A fire on Leopardstown Avenue claimed the life of Mr Philip Waldron (68). Two neighbours discovered the fire at about 6 a.m. and forced their way into the house and rescued Mr Waldron and his wife, but Mr Waldron was pronounced dead at St Vincent's Hospital.

A 48-year-old man, who has not been named, died in a fire at O'Hogan Road in Ballyfermot at about 4 a.m. on Saturday.

Gardai said foul play was unlikely in a house fire in Birr, Co Offaly, in which Mr Terence Foley (80) died. The fire broke out before 11 p.m. on Friday.

A man in his sixties was critical in hospital this morning after a fire in his flat in Naas, Co Kildare. Gardai said the blaze broke out in the Harbour View residence between 11 p.m. and midnight.
