Three held as cannabis worth €500,000 seized

Three men are being questioned following the seizure of cannabis worth €500,000 in two separate operations in the Limerick region this afternoon.

Both seizures took place around midday. In the first one two men were arrested on Mulgrave Street in Limerick City when drugs were found in a car.

The second seizure took place outside Shannon town when one man was arrested after cannabis was found in his car.

According to a member of the Limerick Drugs Squad, the haul follows extra resources being made available to combat drug trafficking in the region.

The three men, aged 30, 48 and 59, are being questioned under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drugs Trafficking Act at Henry Street Garda Station.

The men can be held in custody for up to seven days under this Act.
