A cross-border drugs ring in Ireland has been broken up by police with cannabis with a street value of £500,000 (€558,000) seized.

Three men were arrested in the Lisburn, Armagh and Monaghan areas last night as part of the pre-planned operation.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Organised Crime Branch said it had worked with the Garda National Drugs Unit in the Republic.

Police said a large amount of cash was also seized during the raids.

The three men arrested are now helping police with their inquiries.

The PSNI said they arrested a 41-year-old man in Lisburn outside Belfast, plus a 27-year-old man in Armagh city.

They said the drugs and cash were seized in the raids that took place north of the border.

The Garda drugs unit were assisted by the force’s Monaghan Drugs Unit, where a third man in his 20s was arrested by gardaí.
