METAMORPHOSIS was Ovid's word for it, and the potent notion of "shape shifting" is still with us in stories and folklore - now given a multicultural injection as it reverberates through myths and tales from India and Africa to the Caribbean and Ireland. Katha Sunia Sceal is a storytelling performance that re enacts the transformations of heroes, heroines and animals in fulfilment of prophecies, curses or spells, incorporating words, music and dance from diverse cultural traditions.

A co Production between Two Chairs Company (Dublin) and Brumhalata (Birmingham), the show features the Nigerian dancer and choreographer Peter Badejo, performers and musicians Vayu Naidu, Sarvar Sabri, Ian Parmel, as well as the founder members of Two Chairs Company, Ellen Cranitch and Nuala Hayes, and is part of the annual, month long Scealta Shamhna storytelling festival, currently taking place in venues around Dublin.

The group will use the rich international store of shape shifting motifs to explore themes of travel, migration and adaptation, cultural identity, individual identity and sexual identity. Be careful, it could change your life . . .
