A Galway city shop which was raided by gardai and was found to have pornographic videos for public supply was fined a total of £1,600 at Galway District Court this week.

Gardai who searched Clan Electronics Ltd, Upper Dominick Street, Galway, on August 15th last found 75 pornographic videos in an alcove separated from the main shop by a curtain over which hung an "over 21" sign.

Looking at the titles of the videos, one of which included Paradise Lost, Judge John Garavan remarked that he had thought this was a film classic. "It was, but in this case there were a few modifications," Sgt O'Shea said.

Judge Garavan convicted the company on eight summonses and imposed a £200 fine on each. He ordered the forfeiture of the videos.
