Rector appointed for Rome college

Fr Ciarán O’Carroll has been appointed rector of the Irish College in Rome

Fr Ciarán O’Carroll has been appointed rector of the Irish College in Rome. Currently Episcopal Vicar for Evangelisation in the archdiocese of Dublin and administrator of the Catholic University Church on St Stephen’s Green, Fr O’Carroll succeeds Msgr Liam Bergin, who has been rector of the Irish College since 2001.

It was reported that Fr Brendan Leahy, professor of systematic theology at St Patrick’s College Maynooth, had been proposed to the Vatican’s Congregation for Catholic Education by the Irish Archbishop/trustees for the post as rector of the Irish College in Rome.
