Wellington - Inmates of a New Zealand prison are holding five guards hostage and are believed to have wired the medium-security east wing with explosives, a prison officers' union representative said yesterday. At least three inmates in Paparua Prison, in the South Island city of Christchurch, took the guards hostage late on Saturday to publicise what the inmates called injustices.
