A pregnant woman and her 11-year-old daughter were recovering from shock today after their car was hijacked at a filling station in Co Antrim.
The mother was paying for petrol in the garage shop on the Antrim Road in Glengormley, when a car full of youths pulled up on the forecourt.
Two young men then got out of the maroon coloured BMW and climbed into the front of the woman's Volkswagen Golf. The youths ordered the schoolgirl to get out of the back of the car and drove off.
The mother and daughter, who were left stranded but unhurt, were deeply distressed by the incident, police said.
Five men were later arrested after a car was stopped in Great George's Street in Belfast city centre.
A police spokeswoman said the men were also being questioned about a burglary in Ballyclare and a number of other offences.
The Volkswagen Golf has not yet been recovered.
