An alleged incident at Shamrock Park football ground in Portadown on February 15th last resulted in a Portadown player appearing at a special court in Craigavon yesterday.

Mr Gary James Peebles (30), a midfielder, of Kerr Street, Paisley, was charged with having caused grievous bodily harm with intent to Mr Darren Samuel Murphy, a Glenavon midfielder.

An RUC constable told the court that when arrested, charged and cautioned, Mr Peebles replied: "Not guilty."

He was remanded in custody to Lisburn Magistrates' Court sitting at the Maze on March 26th.
