More than 50 homes and businesses were searched across Dublin this morning as part of an ongoing investigation into organised crime in the capital.

A total of €70,000 and a small quantity of cocaine and cannabis was seized during the raids. One man in his mid twenties has been arrested in relation to the drugs offences and is being held at Crumlin Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.

Members from the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Criminal Assets Bureau, Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation,Garda National Drugs Unit, and the Emergency Response Unit, were all involved in the searches.

A suspected firearm was recovered during the raids as was a quantity of what is believed to be stolen property.

Documentary and computer-based evidence was also seized and will be examined in an effort to identify offences under the Criminal Justice Act 1994 (Money Laundering) or other criminal activity.
