Hot on the trail of RTE director-general Bob Collins, it's over to The Erin Room in Dublin Castle where Collins joins the chairman of the National Millennium Committee, Minister Seamus Brennan, to launch a new multi-media database of Ireland's people, history and culture. Presented in CD-ROM and website format, Ireland's Millennia is the brainchild of Diarmuid de Paor and is a joint project for RTE and the National Millennium Committee. A copy will be distributed to every school and library in the country.
Prime Time presenter Miriam O'Callaghan tells the children assembled from St Louis National School in Rathmines how this new database will make their history essays easy from now on. Ten-year old Caitriona Cronin and her friends Karen McAdoo and Anna Cullinan have taken to the new tool like fish to water, and are demonstrating to all how easy it is to access. Former director-general of RTE, Joe Barry, is here along with Kevin Healy, RTE's director of public affairs and Tom Rowley from the National Millennium Committee.
