Suspected Muslim guerrillas hurled a grenade at police patrolling a crowded bus station in Indian Kashmir today, killing one person and injuring at least 25 others, police said.

No rebel group has claimed responsibility for the attack. A civilian was killed and 17 people were wounded yesterday when a homemade bomb exploded at a bus station in Doda town in southern Kashmir.
It was the second attack in a bus station in two days and came a day ahead of a visit to South Asia by US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage.
He is expected to encourage nuclear rivals India and Pakistan to build on their recent thaw over the disputed Himalayan region.
There has been a spurt in violence in Kashmir after Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee urged talks with Pakistan to resolve a 55-year dispute over the region.
