One man died and five were injured when a small bomb went off inside a bus in southern Pakistan today, police and witnesses said.

The bus had just left the terminal in the southern city of Hyderabad bound for Karachi when the bomb exploded. A young brother and sister were among the wounded, while one of the passengers lost his left leg, police and doctors said.

Police immediately cordoned off the scene, tightened security at the bus terminal and said they had detained the driver, conductor and cleaner of the bus for questioning.

Six people were initially said to have been injured in the blast, but doctors said one man subsequently died of his injuries in hospital.
