A house in Co Antrim was robbed after a bogus caller pretending to be from a phone company lured the occupant outside, police said today.
The culprit made enquiries about moving a telegraph pole in a nearby field and
asked the person inside the house to visit the site with him.
While out of the house on the Carnlough Road, Broughshane, yesterday afternoon three other men ransacked several rooms and stole cash.
"Police are again renewing their appeal for vigilance and greater caution from home owners when dealing with unexpected callers," a PSNI spokesman said.
"They say that anyone who receives an unexpected call, and is asked, or encouraged to leave their home for any reason, should close and lock the door and should contact the police straight away."
