Professor David McConnell, BA, PhD, FTCD, MRIA has been elected as chairman of The Irish Times Trust. He succeeds Major T.B. McDowell whose retirement was announced earlier this week.
Dr McConnell (57) is Professor of Genetics at Trinity College, Dublin. He was educated at Trinity College and the California Institute of Technology. He is a member of the European Molecular Biology Organisation (EMBO) and the Irish Council for Science Technology and Innovation.
He is a former president of the Zoological Society of Ireland, a former chairman of the Adelaide Hospital and of Fota Wildlife Park.
